Ceramic coating is a process that acts as a second coat protecting your car’s clearcoat. It is also referred to as a 9H ceramic coating and uses the power of nanoparticles, small particles that form an invisible layer, to seal all the pores in the surface making the surface water-repellent. It also makes the surface resistant to UV, scratches, chemicals, extreme heat, and even graffiti or vandalism. It prevents dirt and pollutants from causing paint damage.
There are two options to consider when choosing to have the surface of the car ceramic coated:
• Professional application
• Car ceramic coatings that are applied by trained and certified professionals allowing for a very hydrophobic or water-repellent surface.
• This method is more expensive and can range from $500 to $2,000 depending on the level of service you request.
• Prepping the surface with a clay bar will add several hundred more dollars to the cost of the application.
• Depending on the package and condition of the paint, it can take one to five days.
• Premium ceramic coating packages such as Ceramic Pro Gold can cost up to $2,000 from a licensed dealer.
• DIY Consumer Kits (NOT RECOMMENDED YOU CAN SEVERELY HURT YOUR VEHICLE IF YOU THINK IT’S COATED AND IT’S NOT)
• This costs between $20-$150
• These ceramic coatings are easier to use and less sensitive than professional car coatings.
• They are designed to be applied with little or no experience.
• Quality and durability of the products can vary.
Ceramic coating will provide the surface of your car with a long-lasting solution that will make the appearance of the car look like it has been recently waxed, allows dirt to fall off quickly, and protects the car more than a wax or sealant.
